Dr. Danny Dowling, ND

Mission

  1. To improve the quality of life and health of every person I work with.

  2. To meet patients where they're at in their health journey and understanding of what they are experiencing.

  3. To always ask "Why", and to utilize a thorough, verbal investigation to save time and money on conventional and functional labs; in order to identify the underlying cause.

  4. To enhance and expand patient's and the general public's understanding and toolkit for how to safely, treat and prevent disease and illness before or in addition to a standards of care approach (pharmaceuticals/surgery).

Family & Hobbies

When Danny is not working you might find him out trail running, cycling, bouldering/sport climbing, or traveling around with his wife, 90lb goldendoodle and new Baby Boy(as of October 2025).

Building and moving are his passions. After fully customizing and building out his own vanhome in 2020-2021(Post-Med school, Pandemic Project) he's found carpentry is a life-long skill and meditative practice that he needs for his own sanity. Finding and repurposing used materials to create something new and beautiful is a philosophy that transcends his minimalistic approach to life. Other significant projects have been a rain-collecting compost bin and, most recently, a chicken coop & run.

Building and spending time with networking friends, and community in Fort Collins is another pastime of Danny's. You'll find him bouncing around to coffee-shops, breweries, and hosting friends at his house for dinners and potlucks.

He and his wife often run to the Aggie theater or Denver for concerts, and sometimes join in on some ecstatic dance and yoga.

New Receptionist

We have an exciting addition to the Nomadic Naturopathic team!

Dr. Dowling is excited to have his wife, Chelsea, begin acting as receptionist and clinic manager. Chelsea already had an inherent and intuitive connection to nutrition and how she feeds her body with food and her lifestyle. So, hearing and learning more about Naturopathic Medicine via osmosis from Dr. Dowling has inspired her further in her interest in helping others receive more thorough holistic healthcare. Chelsea's background is diverse… she spent years as a hairstylist working in an organic hair salon in Florida, spent a couple years in Bali, Indonesia doing social media marketing, worked as a bartender in Creed, CO, worked in Property Management in Seattle, WA, and more recently has spent the last couple of years working for Keys4Autism & CommuniKeys, working with ASD non-speakers find their voice through spelling their thoughts via letter board. We look forward to see her add her skills and charisma whilst adding more color, vibrance, and efficiency to the Patient experience at Nomadic Naturopathic.

Journey to Naturopathic Medicine

There were a variety of culminating factors that set Dr. Dowling on the trajectory of Naturopathic Medicine. A few primary instigators being the early loss his father at age 11; his own experiences with sports injuries and orthopedic surgery in high school; and watching/reading every nutrition, agriculture, and chronic disease documentary & book he could get his hands on in his formative years. Dr. Dowling entered the Pre-Medical program at the University of Kansas in 2011 with the misconception that he'd be learning about health or at least the things that create health. Going through undergrad, he grew more inspired by Nutrition, Exercise and Lifestyle methods of creating and maintaining health. He saw family and friends struggle with preventable diseases that were primarily caused by and treatable with diet and lifestyle. His fascination with the Gerson Therapy(a Nutrition-based adjunctive Cancer program) was what led him to even find the word Naturopathic Doctor(ND). He found Bastyr University's website and started shadowing a local ND, Dr. Farhang Khosh, who happened to have known his father and was planning to work in his integrative dental/healthcare office before he passed. Dr. Dowling then started interviewing at different Nationally Accredited Naturopathic Medical Schools on the west coast. The stars aligned in Seattle, WA as he fell in-love with their campus(in a national forest), staff, and resources(botanical garden, dorms, and prestigious student teaching clinic).
